And the Winners Are...

Today in photography class, I had the room setup with tables full of objects.  The children's task: take creative pictures of the different objects.  There were about 300 picture entries.  After much careful scrutiny, these are the winners.  To see more pictures from today check out the class photography blog.

Double Blessing

During music class with Mrs. Hier the students were blessed with a double blessing. Mrs. O'Connor came and taught the song, "All of the Earth". While Mrs. Hier taught the girls the vocal parts, Mrs. O'Connor taught the boys instrument parts.

I read the students "The Hobbit". We are on the part where Bilbo and the dwarves are escaping from the spiders. Bilbo has cut the dwarves free, but now they are fighting in the deep, dark forests. During reading time, the students listen more intently and quietly if they are coloring or drawing. Posted below are some of their handiwork, which are still under construction.

There the Lord Commandeth A Blessing

When I saw these pictures that Anna took this morning, I thought of this scripture.

Psalm 133:
1  Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! 2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; 3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Math Madness

Today the 4th & 5th graders had math class together.  They were learning how to change improper fractions into mixed or whole numbers.  I think the students enjoy mixed classes. They like to be with one another.

An Experience

When the students arrived this morning, they came geared up and ready to photograph.  The morning sunlight was playing off the dew, causing it to glisten.  This was too appealing to pass up.  One student asked to go out and photograph.  I replied in the positive and the next moment, the entire classroom was void of any student.  I looked out the window and there they all were, snap happy.  Later in the morning we toured LOTT Alliance Water Treatment Center.  Again, the students enjoyed the experience and took a lot of pictures.  Below are posted a few to tantalize you.  If you go to the classes' photo blog you will see all the pictures.  To view the complete selection of photographs, click 'read more'.  On the photo blog, click 'older posts' to see the rest of today's pictures from other students.
